Pilates is a system of physical and mental conditioning that can enhance your physical strength, flexibility, and coordination as well as reduce stress, improve mental focus, and foster an improved sense of well-being. Pilates can be for anyone and everyone.
This workshop is comprised of 10 chapters, with a final exam at the end of which you are required to achieve 80% passing grade

2. Six Key Principles of PilatesPilates is not just exercise. Pilates is not just a random choice of particular movements. |
3. Spine, Core, and Body AlignmentBody alignment can be described as the relative positioning of body segments, such as placement of the head relative to the shoulders. |
4. Muscles, Movement Analysis, and Mat WorkUnderstanding the muscles that are working in a given mat exercise will help you apply the Pilates foundation principles discussed in chapter 1 and the alignment principles discussed in chapter 2. |
5. Abdominal Work for Movement and StabilizationAlthough most Pilates exercises encourage use of the abdominals, the exercises in this chapter focus particularly on strengthening the abdominals in their action of spinal flexion and also developing the skill of using the abdominals for stabilization. |
6. Fine Articulation for a Flexible SpineMovement of the spine is a complex process. |
7. Bridging for a Functional SpineResearch has demonstrated that drawing the abdominal wall inward tends to produce activation of the transversus abdominis and internal oblique muscles. |
8. Side Exercises for an Effective CoreThis chapter focuses on lateral flexion and rotation of the spine |
9. Extensions for a Strong BackThis chapter focuses on improving the strength, muscular endurance, and skilled activation of the spinal extensors |
