This workshop will discuss the types of bones that make up the skeleton. You will study it's functions and learn that it provides support and protection.

The skeletal system is the internal framework of the human body.  You will study it's functions and learn that it provides support and protection, is involved in the production of blood cells, and enables motion and locomotion.

You will then learn the main types of tissues and tissue processes found in skeletal elements.  You will also look at the structure of a typical long bone, flat bone, the bones of the cranium and sesamoid bones.

The adult human skeleton is composed of 206 bones that provide the human body with a multifunctional structure and is connected by joints, cartilage, tendons and ligaments.
