Essential Agility is an essential training guide for athletes and coaches seeking to excel in today’s fast-action sports. The drills and training programs in this book will get you a step ahead of the competition, whether you’re on the court or on the turf.

Most competitive sports require rapid whole-body movements in which athletes need to accelerate, decelerate, and change direction in response to game situations.

That’s why coaches, athletes, and strength and conditioning professionals are constantly searching for the most effective ways to improve agility and quickness.

Here is the course outline:

1. Please Read Before Beginning Workshop

2. Chapter 1: Factors Determining Agility

Describe speed, agility, and quickness training and its purpose. Rationalize the importance of speed, agility, and quickness training. Design a speed, agility, and quickness training program for athletes at any level of training. Perform, describe, and instruct various speed, agility, and quickness training exercises.

3. Chapter 2: Factors Determining Quickness

Speed, agility, and quickness all involve learned motor skills.

4. Chapter 3: Testing Agility and Quickness

Speed of movement greatly affects an athlete’s abilities in regards to linear speed, agility/MDS, and quickness.

5. Chapter 4: Agility Drills

General movement patterns (e.g., running, jumping, throwing) are used to develop strength and power.

6. Chapter 5: Quickness Drills

A common means of adding neuromuscular load to movement drills is by applying the concepts of resisted and assisted speed.

7. Chapter 6: Agility and Quickness Program Design

Agility/MDS training often closely resembles the actual sporting activity and may, therefore, be the most effective way to address neuromuscular demands required to perform sport specific skills
